Unique Projects

I have been racking my brain lately trying to think of different projects to work on. I like to do things unlike any I have ever seen. Things that are not easy to copycat. This was today's project.
I have a few more ideas but will be short on time this week since I am working every day until the weekend. Watch for new pics over the weekend or early next week.
This is a Handwoven Glycerin Soap Easter Basket. I did not use a mold for this. It was done freehand. For anyone who has never tried to weave soap strands, it is challenging!!! I did use a mold for the little ducks. This cute little basket measures 2 inches high, 2 1/2 inches in diameter and with the handle is 4 1/2 inches high. It weighs 4 ounces.

Valentines Day

With the Christmas holidays behind us, we look ahead to Valentine's Day. Obviously, when we think of Valentines Day we think of love and romance, flowers and candy and all kinds of sweet, lovey dovey things.
On that behalf, I am going to share some recipes for edible body products.

Honey Dew Edible Body Frosting

4.5 ounces Cocoa Butter
4.5 ounces Shea Butter
2 Tablespoons Apricot Kernal or Jojoba Oil
1 Tablespoon Honey Powder
3 drops Vitamin E
10 drops of Honey Dew Flavor Oil (or flavor of choice)

Melt butters SLOWLY in double boiler or microwave, being VERY careful not to overheat! Add remaining ingredients except flavor oil. Place in freezer JUST until a SMALL ridge of solidification forms around the edges of the bowl. Begin beating with standard hand mixer, or, stand mixer. Add flavor oil. Beat until mixtures becomes the consistency of cake frosting. (This will take a while). Scoop into small containers. Enjoy!!! No preservative is necessary since there is no water in the recipe, however, use within a couple of months. Refridgeration will prolong shelf life. (It will also add a new dimension to the fun if it is applied to the body when cold!)

This one is fun!

Edible Body Paint

1/4 cup very hot water
1 packet Knox Unflavored Gelatin
1/2 cup corn starch
1 1/2 cups cold water
1/4 cup vegetable glycerin
1/2 teaspoon flavor oil
Variety of food colors

Dissolve gelatin in hot water. Combine corn starch and cold water. Stir over LOW heat until mixture is smooth and thick. Remove from heat. Add gelatin mixture. Mix well. Add remaining ingredients except color. Mix well. Divide into several small containers and add 1-2 drops of color of choice to each container, mixing well. (Using too much color will result in a paint which will stain the skin!)Allow to cool completely. Now, you are ready for some fun! **Note! This may stain clothing and sheets. We recommend using dark colored sheets, or, covering the "play" area with an old sheet. Immediately place any unused paint in refridgerator and use within 1-2 days.
